Obtaining Russian citizenship becomes easier

The Government of Russia is working on a bill that will allow foreigners to receive Russian citizenship without renouncing their original citizenship. This intends, first of all, to increase the attractiveness of the Russian passport in the world - currently it ranks 51st in the January 2020 Henley & Partners Index.

Tajikistan is the only country in the world currently having a dual citizenship agreement with Russia. Citizens of the Republic of Belarus can keep their passports as well in some cases. Cancellation of the Russian language examination and confirmation of legal sources of income for citizens of Ukraine and Belarus are also on the agenda of the Government of Russia.
