Bellerage Quarterly 4/21: Changes in migration rules
Migration legislation is currently changing very dynamically, so please note some changes of the last months.
1) Quarantine for highly qualified specialists (HQS) canceled: Since the end of October 2021, foreigners entering Russia with an HQS visa no longer need to go into quarantine for 14 days.
2) Private visa for 1 year: A foreign citizen who has close relatives in Russia (spouses, parents, children, brothers and sisters, grandparents) can now receive a private visa for 1 year instead of 3 months.
3) Since October 31, 2021, foreign citizens entering Russia or obtaining a new work permit have to personally submit to the Ministry of Internal Affairs medical documents confirming the absence of drug consumption and of infectious diseases such as HIV and tuberculosis. The medical documents are valid for 3 months only. The international business community is currently making efforts to obtain more favorable requirements for specific categories of foreign citizens.
During the winter holidays, it is especially important to remember that from December 29, 2021, new rules for registering biometric data for foreigners entering Russia will come into force: mandatory fingerprint registration and photographing. Consequences of noncompliance are currently unknown.
On January 27, 2022, Bellerage Alinga will host a workshop on Migration Law to help understand these and other regulations. For registration for the seminar and any other questions, please contact
