Changes in the accreditation procedures for foreign branches and representative offices in Russia

A new law entering into force on August 23, 2021 introduces a number of changes to the registration procedures for foreign branches and representative offices in Russia.

- The registration period will be reduced to 15 working days from the date of submission of documents.
- The law also provides for the possibility of suspension of accreditation to allow companies to eliminate technical errors in the submitted documents and avoid a formal rejection, triggering the need for re-submission.

At the same time, the reasons for refusal are more precisely defined. For example, an application might be rejected if there is a debt of more than 3 thousand rubles in fines or taxes to the budgetary system of the Russian Federation from a foreign company opening a branch or representative office.

The amount of the state duty for these procedures remain unchanged at 120 thousand rubles (approx. 1385 EUR).
