Russian companies will be allowed to store documents electronically
Since May 2021 a law project is discussed by the State Duma that should allow Russian companies to digitalize additional parts of their document flow.
It is proposed to convert paper originals of some documents into electronic versions. It will be performed using an electronic duplicate of a document that will be verified by two qualified electronic signatures - it will be done by specialists from accredited organizations. This will will make it possible to equate electronic documents with paper ones in terms of legal force. It will also be possible to transfer e-documents for storage to accredited organizations.
These new measures will reduce the storage period for paper originals from 25 to 1 year. This law project does not apply to documents for which the legislation currently provides for storage only on paper (charter, HR documents, etc.).
